Description: a kind of personal diary with daily photos (mainly from Paris, France)
Comments: Damien calls it his "mark in the Internet cyberspace" and though the photoblog was launched this past March, there's a number of other projects with photos dating back to 1996. He lives in Paris, which is the locale for most of what's in the photoblog, but my photo gallery documents Damien's travels to places like Kenya, Malasia, Nepal, Brazil, and the Czech Republic – it also includes a series of photos of hot-air balloons taken in Lorraine, France (I like 'em too). The overall site design is excellent in my opinion – easy to navigate between sections. I also like the choice of thumbnail viewing options in the photoblog. Oh – and I really like this and thiscouleur merveilleuse...

Description: a collective of Colombian artists living in Barcelona
Comments: Today's pick aims "to build channels and comunication spaces." The site documents various events organized by its collective of artists, as well showcasing "the work of young artists presenting online monographic exhibitions of works made with non-web specific media." There's some cool stencils and stickers to view (and download) plus several interesting projects dealing with trash – "encouraging other people to make good use of what we consider useless." I enjoyed it – art with a tinge of activism...;~))

Description: to explore, experience and capture textual, visual and sensual narratives of the mobile London urban experience
Comments: Katrina, a researcher at the University of Surrey's INCITE program, started the project in 2003. With a MA in Visual Culture, her interests lie in mobility, technology and place and she describes her online project an "ethnographic and observational study of the No.73 bus exploring its route, passengers, history and iconic place in the urban landscape." She's one of many who use public transport to travel into London daily – in addition to blogging her "everyday bus experiences" there's another part of the site where she hopes to collect "73 stories each around 73 words about the 73 bus." The stories are submitted by others who ride that same route and she'll reach her goal soon – only "8 seats left." The main site is full of other information about things related to the 73 Routemaster – all an interesting look at people and public spaces...

    Description: people and landscapes
Comments: The quiet design with its dark background works well for Will's artsy photographs. The focus is primarily on people – musicians and some friends, perhaps, and there's some outstanding landscapes as well. Elisa, oxford circus, and dawn stick in my mind this morning – a sweet collection of images...

  • XPMNTS 11/7/04
Description: a collection of experimental works (Flash)
Comments: "I've basically just uploaded the files and stuck an indulgent interface on the front..." says the site's creator – "some of it bad and some of it ok." What was once just a folder full of experimental work on What's hard drive is now an online collection of Flash works, static art, and photographs. All pretty effin' cool, in my opinion anyway...  [Newstoday®]

  • Color in Motion 11/5/04
Description: an interactive experience of color communication and color symbolism (Flash)
Comments: Color in Motion was Claudia's MFA Thesis project. It's really quite creative and fun to use – a great way to learn about color. Each of 6 colors stars in its own movie plus there's a lab with 3 interactive projects for the user – "Just have fun and enjoy color!" One of a kind...;~))

  • No Traces 11/4/04
    Description: digital and film images
Comments: "I've been in love with images for as long as I can remember. I'm partial to film..." Bob's got about 20 different cameras and he's posted over 200 photos since April. "I can't begin to explain the feeling you get when you see your own images appear on a contact sheet in the darkroom. It's pure ecstacy for me -- I only wish I would have done this 30 years ago. Now, my wish is to have 30 more years so that maybe someday I'll actually be halfway decent at all of this. God, I love images." It shows...;~))
