china impressions 9/23/05 Description:
created to share mind&photo relief taken during a friends trip to China (Flash)
Comments:
Though navigation choices are rather limited for a gallery of this size (just my opinion), I think the site is visually appealing and really do like the Flash interface. But more important in my mind, Tom's collection of 248 photos taken in China is simply extraordinairy. Though I haven't viewed all the photos yet, you can bet I'll be back there soon to continue where I left off...;~))
trusted computing 9/18/05 Description:
an animated short about trusted computing
Comments:
"Trusted Computing. Sounds great. Doesn't it?" Today's pick is a short film, available in a number of different formats, which promotes the Against-TCPA initiative. It explains that the process of trust "has been reshaped by the computer industry" and that mutuality (on which the idea of trust depends) is being removed from the equation with the introduction of microchips to restrict how we may use a mulitude of devices. We will no longer be able to decide on our own what is trustworthy. The simple question it raises: "If they don't trust you, why should you trust them?" Good question and something worth thinking about. Well done. [RES72™]
Moving Insect 9/14/05 Description:
design wallpaper and photos
Comments:
"Crawling like an insect, passing by various people, human faces, stylish design wallpapers, inspiring situations, colorful buildings, structures of men and nature." Henrik captures, or should I say expresses these moments in two ways. On one hand, colorful design wallpapers (free to download, of course), and on the other hand, some pretty amazing photography. I love his people photos. And yes – there's insects too...;~))
Yellow Is The New Pink 9/11/05 Description:
punk and hardcore as a way of thinking, a way of life
Comments:
Jan and Grit call the site one of their "personal little stepstones on the yelloy brick road to a better future." They're into punk and hardcore but not into what it has come to mean now. "Our beloved counterculture has become just another fad..." So they've created their own hc/punk zine with news, reviews, articles, and band photos. Interesting stuff. "It is politics, it is art, it is life..."
